We are looking for a bookseller to join our crew!

Interested in working at Excelsior Bay Books?

We have an opening for a permanent, part-time bookseller.
Specifically, we’re looking for someone who can work Sundays from 12 to 4 pm and two additional 3-4 hour shifts each week (a total of 12-14 hours.)

Do you love books and the prospect of helping readers of all ages find the right book? Do you like making customers happy? Paying attention to detail? Enjoy solving problems with a healthy dose of patience and a sense of humor? Willing to learn our computer system? Let’s talk!

What’s it like to work at the bookstore?

If you’ve shopped in our store, you know we are friendly and enthusiastic.

In addition to helping customers find and order books, our booksellers help with receiving, shelving, re-ordering, shipping, and operating our point-of-sale system.
We all participate in keeping the shop tidy and organized and our displays updated and appealing.

The store can be quite busy during the summer and holiday months; there are also quiet times that require some initiative to stay productive!

We expect our booksellers to read new and forthcoming books (and eventually write brief reviews to be posted in the store.)

Flexibility and willingness to cover shifts when colleagues are away is important to us. We may occasionally ask for help with author events.

Bookselling is active work. We stand and walk most of the day. Applicants must be able to lift 40 lbs, bend, reach shelves at floor level, and use step ladders.
